About
One ledger for corporate cards, supplier bills and the close —so a month is reviewed rather than reconstructed.

Our story
Marijke Haas and Tomas Ekdahl met closing the books at a logistics company in Amsterdam. Between them they had a bank portal, an expense tool, a folder of supplier PDFs and a spreadsheet that was meant to make the four agree. The close took eleven working days, and twice a year it was wrong.
The reflex everyone had was to buy another tool. They wanted the opposite — one ledger that every card, bill and bank line writes to as it lands, so that closing a month is a review rather than a reconstruction. They started building it in 2019, above a bike shop on the Herengracht, with one customer who had exactly the same problem.
Seven years on, 2,400 finance teams close on Finly and €3.1B a year moves across it. The company is 180 people in two cities. The premise has not moved: a number is only useful when it arrives with the sentence that explains it.

How we work

The team
A slice of a hundred and eighty. The three who run the company, then some of the people whose names are on the pull requests and the payment runs.

Milestones
Founded above a bike shop in 2019;a hundred and eighty people in two cities now.Nothing here has been rounded.
2019
Two people, one spreadsheet that would not reconcile, and a first customer with exactly the same problem.
2020
Corporate cards that carry their own policy — limits and categories on the card itself. Seed round of €4M, led by Vellum Capital.
2021
Supplier bills arrive, get read, and route to the right approver by threshold. One payment run clears the queue.

Coding and bank matching move to the moment a transaction lands, so month end becomes a review. Series A of €18M. The hundredth team joins.
2023
Bank feeds live in eleven countries, and a second office to support them across a wider working day.
2024
Accounting, ERP, HRIS, banking and identity, every one of them syncing both ways. Series B of €42M.
2026
2,400 finance teams close on Finly, €3.1B moves across it a year, and 180 people keep it running.
