About the role

Our load is not flat. Twenty-four days a month the system is quiet, and then two and a half thousand finance teams close their books inside the same seventy-two hours. Capacity, backpressure and the blast radius of any one bad deploy are therefore the whole discipline here rather than a background concern.

You would own how Finly runs: the deploy path, the observability that makes an incident legible in the first ninety seconds, and the boring guarantees underneath the ledger — backups that have actually been restored, and a failover somebody has rehearsed.

What you'll do

  • Own the deploy pipeline and keep a rollback under five minutes at any hour.
  • Build the observability an on-call engineer needs to answer "what changed" without reading code.
  • Plan for month-end load rather than average load, and prove the headroom before it is needed.
  • Run restore drills and failover rehearsals, and write up what broke in them.
  • Share the platform pager and lead the review after anything customer-visible.

What you'll bring

  • Four or more years keeping a production system available for people who notice when it is not.
  • Fluency with containers, infrastructure as code and at least one major cloud.
  • Real experience of a database under pressure — connection limits, slow queries, and locks.
  • The instinct to automate the thing you have now done twice by hand.
  • Enough written English to run an incident review that people outside engineering can follow.

Nice to have

  • Worked somewhere with a regulated audit trail, and know what that costs an ops team.
  • Kubernetes, Terraform or Postgres at a size where the defaults stopped working.
  • Have deleted more alerts than you added.

How we hire

Four steps, and a decision either way.

The same four for every role.No take-home that eats a weekend, and no round that exists to see whether you will put up with another round.

  1. Intro

    A thirty-minute call

With the hiring manager, never a recruiter. You ask about the work, we ask what you have actually owned.

    Same week you apply

  2. Craft

    One piece of real work

A ninety-minute exercise taken from our own backlog — paid at your day rate if you would rather it were.

    90 minutes, paid

  3. Team

    Meet the three people

The ones you would sit beside, including whoever would review your code or sign off your ledger.

    Two hours, one day

  4. Offer

    A yes or a reason

A yes carries the band and the start date. A no carries why. Nobody is left to work it out from silence.

    Inside two weeks

Benefits

Eight things you get on day one.

The same eight in Amsterdam and Lisbon.Nothing here is discretionary and nothing is a perk you have to ask twice for.
