Finly + Shopify

Payments · Two-way sync · Live since 2025 · About 10 minutes to connect

What it does

Finly reads Shopify Payments payouts down to the order that produced them, and keeps sales, shipping, tax and fees apart. Each store connects on its own, so a group running several brands never has to unpick one deposit into three.

What syncs

What moves, and which way.

Both directions, on every sync.Nothing here is a nightly batch —a record that changes at 14:02 is in the ledger before you look at it.

Shopify → Finly

  • Orders and their line detail, per store
  • Payout batches, matched to the bank line
  • Shopify Payments fees, on their own account
  • Shipping and tax collected, kept separate
  • Refunds and returns, matched to the order
  • Gift card and store credit movements

Finly → Shopify

  • Ledger account codes, written back as metadata
  • Reconciliation status on every payout
  • Store tag, so each brand stays separate

Connected

What it looks like once it is on.

The Finly ledger view for a connected payments account: €1.84M settled this month, €41,900 of processing fees at 2.3% of gross, no unreconciled payouts, a twelve-week payout chart split between cards, gross and reimbursements, and three lines needing a human.

Every settlement, already split.

Gross, processing fees and refunds land as separate lines against the same Shopify settlement, each on its own account. The bank line that arrives two days later matches without anyone touching it.

Before you start

What you need, and what it will not do.

You need a Shopify account with owner or administrator access and a Finly plan that includes bank feeds, which means Core and above. One Shopify account maps to one Finly entity, so a group running several entities connects each one separately —that separation is also what keeps the fee accounts apart at the close.Nothing is installed, and the key never leaves Finly.

Two things it deliberately will not do.It will not move money:Finly reads Shopify and never initiates a payout, a refund or a transfer, so a bad sync cannot cost you anything. And it will not rewrite history —activity that settled before you connected stays exactly as it is unless you ask for the ninety-day backfill, which is a separate run and a reversible one.
